Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day is taking place on 6 February. This day is designed to get people talking about their mental health and helps change lives, whether with friends, families, communities, or workplaces.

Time to Talk Day is run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness and is all about opening up the conversation about mental health.

Ways you can get involved

What makes Time to Talk Day unique is the creative ways people start their conversations, such as creating fortune cookies, sharing poems and putting on comedy gigs all about our mental health.

There are more simple ways to get involved, such as starting a conversation when doing something active, like arranging a walk and talk event for the people in your local community. Also, giving people conversation cards to break the ice and help them start discussing mental health.

People can reach out to someone they have not spoken to in years or make cakes for a neighbour to get the conversation started, it is a chance to check in and normalise talking about mental health.

There are countless benefits to talking about mental health, such as reducing stigma around the topic and improving the understanding of mental health issues. Openly talking about your mental health can inspire others to do the same and destigmatize it, showing the person that it is okay to reach out and seek help when needed.

Creating an open and understanding community is the aim of Time to Talk Day and makes people with mental health problems feel seen and heard.
